Fencing Organisations
Our club is connected to the wider fencing community through national and international organisations. These organisations support the development of fencing, organise competitions, and provide opportunities for fencers to compete at every level.
BUCS — British Universities & Colleges Sport
British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) is the organisation responsible for university sport across the UK. BUCS provides opportunities for students to represent their universities in competitive sport, including fencing.
University fencing competitions give students the chance to compete against fencers from universities across the country, with events ranging from individual competitions to team championships.

Whether you are an experienced competitor or new to university fencing, BUCS provides a great opportunity to compete, represent your university, and become part of the wider student fencing community.

British Fencing
British Fencing is the national governing body for fencing in Great Britain. It supports the development and promotion of fencing across England, Scotland and Wales, from beginners and grassroots clubs through to elite international competition.
British Fencing oversees the sport's competitive structure in Great Britain and supports clubs, coaches, referees and athletes. It also organises and sanctions competitions and works to develop opportunities for people to participate in fencing at all levels.

For fencers looking to progress within the sport, British Fencing provides a pathway from local competitions through to national and international competition.

FIE — Fédération Internationale d'Escrime
The Fédération Internationale d'Escrime (FIE) is the international governing body for fencing. It is responsible for overseeing the sport at international level and establishes the rules and regulations used in international fencing competitions.

The FIE governs the three fencing weapons — foil, épée and sabre — and organises major international competitions, including the World Championships and World Cup circuit.
The FIE also plays an important role in developing fencing worldwide and ensuring that competitions are conducted consistently and fairly across different countries.
