Running for a Committee Position
If you are considering running, please read the role descriptions below to get an idea of the responsibilities involved. These descriptions are not exhaustive, and the current committee will be happy to answer any questions about the roles and their experiences.
You can speak to a committee member at training, contact us through social media, or email at1016@exeter.ac.uk.
Candidates will be expected to prepare a short speech of no more than two minutes to deliver at the EGM. After your speech, you will have the opportunity to answer questions from the committee and other club members.
Due to the small number of positions being contested at this EGM, video presentations will also be permitted.
Your speech should cover:
Why you are running for the position
The skills and qualities you would bring to the role
How you would like to develop the role and the club as a whole
Voting will take place through a voting form made available at the end of the EGM. All members present will be able to vote, and the results will be announced once the voting period has ended. Two impartial committee members who are not running for a new position will count the votes.
Members must be present at the EGM to vote unless there are exceptional circumstances. If you are unable to attend for an exceptional reason, please contact the Vice Club Captain at at1016@exeter.ac.uk in advance to request access to the voting form. Exceptions cannot be arranged on the day.
New committee members will be added to the club’s management following completion of the relevant handover. Successful candidates should contact the previous role holder to arrange a handover meeting and receive guidance for their new role.
