World Fencing Day 2026
Once a Fencer, Always a Fencer
12 September 2026
Today, we join fencers around the world in celebrating World Fencing Day 2026.
This year's theme from the International Fencing Federation (FIE) is “Once a Fencer, Always a Fencer” — celebrating the discipline, resilience and lifelong community that make fencing more than just a sport.
At University of Exeter Fencing Club, we see this every year.
Some of our members are picking up a weapon for the first time, while others have been fencing for years. Whether you're a beginner, a BUCS competitor, a coach, a referee or simply someone who loves being part of the fencing community, the sport leaves a lasting mark.

More Than a Sport
Fencing teaches you to keep going after a tough bout, learn from every mistake and support the people around you.
For many of us, the friendships, experiences and memories made through fencing stay with us long after we leave the piste.
That's what “Once a Fencer, Always a Fencer” means to us.
Celebrate With Us
This World Fencing Day, we're celebrating our members — past and present — and everyone who has helped make UoEFC what it is today.
From our beginners taking their first steps on the piste to our teams representing Exeter in BUCS and regional competitions, we're proud to be part of the global fencing family.
Once a fencer, always a fencer. 🤺
